Daytime Cleaner – LPFN Jordan’s Principle

Employment Type: Part-Time or Full-Time

Minimum 3 days per week (up to 8 hrs daily)
Location: Long Plain First Nation

 

About Jordan’s Principle

Jordan’s Principle is a child-first initiative ensuring that First Nations children have equitable access to all government-funded public services. It was created in memory of Jordan River Anderson from Norway House Cree Nation and is rooted in the principle that no child should experience delays or denials in accessing essential services because of jurisdictional disputes. This program supports the health, well-being, and dignity of First Nations children and families by removing barriers to care.

About the Role

The Daytime Cleaner will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for the Jordan’s Principal program. This position involves routine cleaning of the building and assisting with pre- and post-program setup and cleanup to ensure smooth operations. The successful candidate will demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect when working in a community-based setting that serves children and families.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications
Perform daily cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces.

Maintain cleanliness in common areas, offices, washrooms, and program spaces.

Assist with setup and teardown for program activities and events.

Ensure proper disposal of waste and recycling.

Monitor cleaning supplies and report inventory needs.

Follow health and safety protocols at all times.

Support a culturally safe environment for children and families participating in Jordan’s Principle programming.

Other duties as assigned

Previous cleaning experience preferred but not required.

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe environment.

Understanding and respect for Indigenous cultures and traditions is an asset.

Requirements

Must pass a full security check, including:

Criminal Record Search with Vulnerable Sector Check

Child Abuse Registry Check

Current WHMIS certification or willingness to obtain

Ability to lift and move moderate weights as required for cleaning and setup tasks.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive hourly wage of $20 HOURLY

& 4% Vacation Pay

Minimum 3 days per week up to 8-hours per shifts between 8:30am-4:30PM Monday – Friday
