Long Plain Post Secondary

Long Plain Post-Secondary Education Department provides financial assistance to members of Long Plain First Nation to obtain post-secondary education. Our office is located at the Miskwaanakwadook Place – 110 – 5010 Crescent Road West, Long Plain First Nation. We work in partnership with the LPFN Training and Employment Program and are jointly operated at this same location.

The Long Plain Post Secondary Program is committed to the following:

1. Provide holistic and respectful support services to qualified LPFN Members attending recognized accredited post secondary institutions.
2. Support and encouraging individuals students ambitions and aspirations.
3. Maintaining an educated pool of LPFN Members to enrich a healthy productive community through capacity building.
4. Creating positive role models for future generations.

APPLICATION DEADLINES

We take applications all year around however we have established the following deadlines:

• Fall/Winter Terms | Deadline: May 31
• Winter Term | Deadline: November 15
• Spring/Summer Terms | Deadline: March 15

BEFORE YOU APPLY

You must provide before you apply for Post Secondary Education Assistance:

1. Include a written educational plan that describes your career goals, program description, courses of study and schedule you expect to use to reach this goal (between 250 – 1000 words) please include a target date for graduation.
2. Proof of your status as a Long Plain Member (a copy of your status card)
3. A copy of your letter of acceptance issued from the accredited educational institution which is eligible to attend, please contact the Post Secondary Office for approved post secondary institutions.
4. Program description including the length of study and registration.
5. A copy of your most recent transcript from the last educational institution you attend (High School, College, University,or other).
6. Program costs including tuition and books.

IMPORTANT

• Funding for Post Secondary is not transferable between different educational programs or institutions. Students are reminded to carefully select program of study and to seek career counseling from the educational student services on university, college, high school campuses or by a career counselling services.
• Post Secondary student funding is valid only for one academic year, usually September to April, may vary depending on specific or specialized educational programs. All students must re-apply each academic year regardless of the length of educational program.
• Your application for sponsorship may be delayed until all the requested documents and information are forwarded and received by the Post Secondary Department.

APPLICATION PROCESS

1. Download the application for Post Secondary Education
2. Complete the application form and return it in person or by fax or scanned or mail to the Office for Post Secondary Education as soon as possible prior to the application deadline. Photographs of applications will not be accepted.
3. Provided all supporting documents with the application and it MUST be duly signed by you and your spouse, if married/ or common law.
4. Sign the agreement and document checklist and include it in the application package being submitted to the office of Post Secondary.

NOTE: Incomplete and unsigned applications will not be considered for funding.
