March 23, 2020 Long Plain Public Notice

As part of our “State of Emergency“ the following steps and actions are being taken.

  • Long Plain Emergency Center location will be the Spirit Lodge and will open tomorrow from 1 pm to 8 pm. Then daily from 8 am to 8 pm. The number is 2042523415. We should have a toll free number soon for this location.
  • Keeshkeemaquah Emergency Center will open Wednesday from 10 am to 6 pm each day except for weekends. The number is 2048561220
  • Madison Emergency Center will open Thursday from 10 am to 6 pm each day except weekends. The number is 2047748474.

The purpose of the Emergency Centers is to provide information support and will be used as depots for food security, cleaning supplies and medical supplies.

There will be a delivery system in place for all locations and we will not allow pick ups. Social distancing is the new norm and self isolation is recommended.

We will also send deliveries to our people living in Brandon and we are working to address the support requests coming from other areas outside of these 3 cities.

There is no lockdown in Long Plain although we will be setting up checkpoints. The purpose is to begin limiting unnecessary travel. You maybe asked to turn around and go home if you don’t have a valid reason to be out and about.

We have not received government support for our off reserve members but we will be providing support through our Corporate entities as we have done in previous emergencies. We will undertake to assist all those in need and most importantly our elders, those on Social Assistance, our vulnerable persons, people living with medical disabilities and students.

On behalf of our council we want to thank you for your understanding and patience during this pandemic and health crisis we face as a community. We offer our blessings to all and we hope you stay well and stay safe in the days to come.

Chief Dennis Meeches
