Program Assistant – 12-month Term, Full time

The Program Assistant works under the direction and supervision of the Program Manager of Long Plain Employment & Training (LPET).  The Program Assistant will work to plan and coordinate projects within LPET.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Familiarized with ISETP – the Indigenous Skills & Employment Training Program;
  • Creating and maintaining project and client records including budgets and scheduling, both electronically in our database and physical files;
  • Providing motivational support for active clients;
  • Coordination of “One-off” Programming (ie; Food Handler Certification, First Aid/CPR)
  • Coordination of FNIYES Skills Link & Summer Work Experience Programs, including work placements, training & programs;
  • Preparing monthly reports to Program Manager;
  • Interact with the public and clients in a professional and respectful manner;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and able to meet strict deadlines;
  • Contribute to team effort by working in collaboration with LPET’s Client Services Assistant & other departments within Long Plain First Nation

Skills & Qualifications

  • One year relevant work experience;
  • A positive, helpful attitude with the ability to motivate others;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Skilled in prioritizing, organizing, problem solving and time management with the ability to multi-task;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Excel & Word;
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License with access to reliable vehicle;
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check, Child Abuse Registry Check
