Long Plain First Nation Finance is seeking a full-time General Ledger Clerk,

located at the Miskwaanakadouk Building.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the Supervision of the Finance Administrator, the General Ledger Clerk is accountable for creating journal entries and assembling supporting documentation. They will also be responsible for tracking the contents of accounts and creating portions of the financial statements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Maintain a list of monthly journal entries. Ensuring that the monthly closing process is completed correctly, with all journal entries completed.

· Ensure that there is a documentation of reasons for each journal entry, including supporting calculations.

· Maintains responsibility for entry of all journal entries in the accounting system.

· Maintains descriptions of all general ledger accounts.

· Performs daily bank reconciliations for all programs.

· Post general ledger batches and check for coding errors.

· Cancel cheques in Common Services for all Long Plain First Nation programs.

· Review of the income statements for accuracy

· Perform related clerical duties, such as word processing, maintaining filing and recording systems, faxing and photocopying.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Minimum Grade 12 Diploma with some bookkeeping and accounting experience and at least two years’ experience in bookkeeping/accounting and as a Genera! Ledger or Finance Officer.

· Business degree or certificate would be an asset
