A local teen has been crowned Miss Teen Manitoba recently, and has been chosen as a finalist for Miss Teen Canada this summer. 16-year-old Westpark student Ambria Jayla Myran Roulette hopes to inspire others through her opportunity to represent youth.
“I hope to bring awareness to all the youth in the community,” says Roulette. “I want to be a great role model for them, and show them that they can do anything, and their dreams aren’t impossible. I want to encourage all youth that they can do what they want to do.”
Roulette says she became interested in pageants after seeing another girl from a different reserve compete. Roulette is from Long Plain First Nation but currently lives in Portage. She says she love small towns and is excited to represent our community, noting everyone is so welcoming and kind here.
Miss Teen Manitoba says she was encouraged by her late cousin to enter the pageant competition, so after she passed away last summer, she applied.
Roulette is busy with fundraising projects for her trip to Toronto this August for the Miss Teen Canada pageant.
Though she’s still a bit far from graduating, Roulette says she plans to study Forensic Psychology and then become an RCMP officer.
